Guest Posting Today… {Shelley Smucker}

As you know, I love guest posts, and today`s post is really fun. I love clothes… and what a cute momma and baby. ♥

Thanks, so MUCH Shelley, for sharing with us…

Here she is:

Hello readers!   I was blessed with the honor of being able to guest post on the lovely Jenny’s blog, and at the moment am feeling a little bit like a Jr. High student at prom.  Anyway, here I am. 🙂

Well, how do you think the dated, tired old prom feels– hosting fresh, vibrant, new blood like those pretty junior highers? ~jenny (hehe)

I couldn’t decide what to blog about, and then settled on filling you in on some of the things I’m loving right now.  So here goes.  (Really wanted to do an exclamation point right there, but I’ve already used one and one smiley face, so I’m probably maxing out Jenny’s patience already.  I’ll have to settle down! ) Shoot, there I go again.

I used to worry that after getting married and having a baby, I would slowly but surely slip into “Frumpville”. Oh it’s a real place, be very afraid.  It has claimed many a hapless, unsuspecting passerby who thought they would just pop in for a visit and ended up buying a condo.  And hey, I understand.  It’s HARD to dress up when you’re a mom.  Sometimes you feel like the last thing in the world you have time for is yourself.  It’s hard enough to get out of bed and shower, I know.  But it really doesn’t take that much time, and it’s worth it.

(Sweater, skirt and boots–Goodwill. Necklace–gift. Head scarf–have no idea, maybe my Grandma’s? Total outfit cost–around $15)

Thought I’d try my hand at a little colorblocking, that I’m sure you’ve all heard of by now.  People are usually much more courageous with it than I, pairing colors like magenta and orange.  Maybe I’ll stray a little further out of my comfort zone next time.   And let’s be honest, if I would’ve waited to take these pictures until I was actually on my way to something, they would have never happened, because it seems I’m always running late.  So the only “event” I was headed for, all dressed up like this, was the grocery store.  At first I felt overdressed, but then I got two compliments from strangers and started thinking, “Maybe this is how we can change the wear-your-pajamas-to-the-

store-trend! Just one, slightly over-dressed grocery store run at a time.”  Because I really, truly dislike that trend.

Next I’d love to introduce you to the mini-sized love of my life, Jocelyn Kate.  This little muncher gave me a VIP pass into the most magical wonderland–Motherhood.  I am loving every minute of it.

If you’re a mom, you know what I mean when I say sometimes you love them so much you physically hurt.  It’s so strange, the complete exhaustion, fatigue and stress you can feel being a mom, and yet somehow, kissing that chubby little cheek flushed pink while they sleep you find yourself thinking, “I am the luckiest woman in the world.”

There it is, a glimpse into my world.  You can find me over here if you’d like to see more.  You can also follow me on Pinterest over here.  Isn’t it entirely too addicting?

Blessings to you all, I will leave you with something I’m clinging to these days….. “I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of Heaven and earth.” -Ps. 121: 1-2

And these are just for you: (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I like!! I am known to use exclamation marks everywhere as well, so no worries here. 🙂 And I also can’t do a post without a smiley face, of course! 🙂 I thought you looked great & then when I got to the part about going to the grocery store like this, I really loved it. Why is going frumpy so much more likely to happen than dressing up a bit? So thanks for taking the time to post!

Had to smile at the the smilies and exclamation points. I’m always afraid I’ll write too many when I leave a comment for Jenny, but since this one is for Shelley, we can use them!!! :):) -You have a beautiful daughter, Shelly. Love your blog.

  3. Jenny says:

honestly, i use them to!!!! 🙂 just not when i write about myself. if i wish someone a happy birthday on Fb i will use a lot of them. shannon, dont feel shy. send me as many as you want.
shelley, i really like that you make thrift store stuff cool. that is huge for me. i don`t like when it`s like– if you don`t have $200 to shop, you just have to look dated/gross. you def proved otherwise!

Yeah, I’m not usually too impressed when fashion bloggers post an outfit that they say is a steal, and the total cost is $90-$100. I just don’t have the budget for that! 🙂

inspirational! i love tips, ideas, and *reasons* to dress well even in these years of an ever changing body and raising the littles that cause the changes!

Oh, I LOVED this. Shelley, I think we’d be good friends. 😉 Goodwill is one of my favorite places to shop, and I am all about dressing up to go the bank, the grocery store, and even at home most days just so my family knows they’re special enough for that… Anyway, I just really loved this!!

Jenny – it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been on your blog (due to no internet in our Colorado apartment) but it is a pleasure to come back. Your post on autumn joys was sweetness itself. This little space in blogland gives me such a happy feeling… xoxo
